Spring may still be a few weeks away on the calendar, but here at Pollyanna’s Antiques, we’re already welcoming it through the front door. This week, we dressed up one of our favorite fireplace mantles with a burst of golden forsythia branches and a curated collection of blue and white porcelain — and honestly, it feels like sunshine walked right into the shop.
There’s something magical about the pairing of bright yellow and classic blue and white. The forsythia brings all that hopeful, almost electric energy of early spring, while the blue willow pieces and ginger jars keep everything grounded in timeless elegance. It’s a combination that’s been charming homes for generations, and it works just as beautifully today as it ever did.
The mantle itself is dressed with a delicate lace runner, giving the whole arrangement a soft, layered foundation. A vintage white lamp sits at the center, flanked by blue and white transferware plates, porcelain jars, and trailing forsythia that spills over the edges like it simply couldn’t be contained. Above it all, an ornate gold mirror reflects the arrangement back, doubling the beauty and making the whole corner of the shop glow.
Down below, a tall blue vase overflows with even more forsythia, paired with a cluster of blue silk flowers on a petite white side table. It’s the kind of layered, collected-over-time look that makes a house feel like a home — and every single piece in this display is available for you to take home and make your own.
If you’ve been itching to shake off the winter gray and bring a little warmth into your space, this is your sign. You don’t need a full renovation — sometimes all it takes is a few golden branches, a gorgeous piece of blue and white porcelain, and a mantle that’s ready for its spring moment.
Come see this display in person at Pollyanna’s Antiques in downtown Mt. Clemens. We’d love to help you find the perfect pieces to welcome spring into your home.
